The renovations are coming along!!

Demolition is 100% complete on the third floor which will be OIT's new home. They are laying the steel tracks where the walls will go. The steel wall studs were scheduled to go up Wednesday. The second floor was closed off for asbestos removal and that should also be completed by Wednesday.

On the first floor, Denark Construction is still removing carpet and wiring. All the walls have been removed and demolition is probably 90% complete. In one of the pictures you will see steam coming out of the first floor walls!! The Carroll Reece Museum is still using the old boiler system for their heat so the construction company is waiting on warmer weather to turn it off.

On the ground floor workers are removing the handicap ramp with a jackhammer and a new more efficient ramp will be installed. One area in the Northwest corner of the first floor concrete flooring and the ceiling in the ground floor needs to be completely removed to meet codes and ceiling heights. Some of the old doors and fixtures will remain, keeping some of the atmosphere of the building. Demolition is about 75% complete on the ground floor.

All new heat and air conditioning will be installed and we won't be glad of that!! An additional elevator is being added in the Northeast corner of the building. The existing elevator in the Northwest corner will be refurbished.

Trash removal! The construction company goes through 20 construction dumpsters a week!! That's a lot of demolition!

Drywall over brick. A very modern statement or a new look maybe???
