Gerontological Nurse Practitioner
Post-Master's Certificate

The following coursework is required for the Gerontological Nurse Practitioner Post-Master's Certificate:
ALNU-5009 Health Assessment Throughout the Lifespan 3
ALNU 5010 Health Assessment Throughout the Lifespan: Practicum 3 (90 clock hrs)
PMNU-5004 Seminar in Professional Roles 1
FCNU 5950 Internship in Advanced Nursing Practice 4 (210 clock hrs)
    11 credit hrs

AND

*Two or more of the following course combinations based upon evaluations of previous coursework and practice experience:
ALNU 5013/5014 Lifespan Assessment & Clinical Management: Older Adults/Practicum 2/3 (90 clock hrs)
ALNU 5021/5022 Case Management: Older Adults/Practicum 2/3 (90 clock hrs)
ALNU 5031/5032 Care of the Older Adult in Structured Settings/Practicum 2/3 (90 clock hrs)
PMNU 5402 Behavioral Health Concepts for Adults  3
    8-18 credit hrs
Additionally, the following courses are required, if not previously taken:
ALNU 5016 Pathophysiology for Nursing Diagnoses & Interventions 3
ALNU 5018 Advanced Clinical Pharmacology 3
ALNU 5038 Pharmacology & Therapeutics for Older Adults  1
    7 credit hrs
  Total Credit Hours in Curriculum 19-37
  Total Clock Hours in Practica 390-570
Note: The ratio of credit hours to clock hours per week is 1:1 for didactic courses; 1:2 for all practica, and 1:3.5 for the Internship course.
 
**All non-nurse practitioner post-master's students are required to complete a minimum of 500 clock hours of supervised clinical practica.

*Fifty-one of the 90 clock hours for Health Assessment Practicum are completed in the College of Nursing's learning labs. The other 39 hours are direct client contact hours in a clinical setting.
