The LPN to BSN program allows the student to work full-time and take classes part-time. It is a
five-year
plan, but students can move faster or slower through the curriculum as desired.
The “community partnerships” health care agencies who employ LPN's participating in the program agree
to provide LPN to BSN students receive 4 credits toward graduation, a work schedule that is tailored to the LPN's class schedule, and full or part tuition
reimbursement. The current partners, Mountain States Health Alliance (MSHA),
Wellmont Health Care Systems, the James H. Quillen Veterans Administration Medical Center,
Laughlin Memorial Hospital, Center for Aging and Health (Erwin), NHC Healthcare (Johnson City, TN)
and
Tennessee Technical Centers (LPN programs in Elizabethton,
Morristown, Kingsport, Greeneville and Bristol). We plan to add additional community partner
agencies each year. Watch our website for announcements.

The nursing curricula at ETSU is grounded in community based health care, primarily rural, and health promotion with a
strong emphasis on cultural diversity. The LPN program participant graduates will be prepared to practice with culturally
sensitive skills, especially in the rural areas of Tennessee, Kentucky, North Carolina, and Virginia.
Application Process:
- Program application: Personal and work history, personal statement, recommendation from employer, previous employer
or instructor.
- University application
- Financial aid application
- Exam for all ETSU applicants 21 years or older (placement purposes)
- College of Nursing application (after completion of first
semester sophomore year)
Applicants are usually notified of acceptance from the program team within 2-3 weeks of application.
