Instructions for renewal of an RN nursing license can
be found on the Internet using the URL

several options for renewal of the RN license and ETSU can help with
one of the options. Specifically the one found below, excerpted from
the on-line document that mentions nursing credits obtained in an
accredited Nursing Program.
At the URL mentioned above you will find the
following paragraph:

1000-1-.14 STANDARDS OF NURSING COMPETENCE

Scroll down the document until you reach item 2 (d). It is
currently listed beginning on page 32 and going through page 36.
It reads as follows:

EXCERPT)
2 (d) For Registered Nurses who have not practiced for more than
five (5) years and do not intend to practice in the future,
compliance with this subparagraph is not required. For Registered
Nurses
who have not
practiced for more than five (5) years and are applicants for
licensure, renewal of license, reactivation of license, or
reinstatement of license, the appropriate application and one (1) of
the following shall be submitted as evidence of continued nursing
competence:
1. Proof of
successful completion of five (5) contact hours of continuing
education for each year of inactivity.
2. Proof of
having had an article published during the period of inactivity in a
professional journal acceptable to the Board.
3. Proof of
successful completion of a two (2) week Board-approved nursing
refresher program.
4. Proof of
successful completion of a two (2) week Board-approved comprehensive
orientation program offered by a prospective nursing employer.
5. Proof of
enrollment in an approved/accredited nursing program leading to
licensure as a Registered Nurse or to an advanced degree in nursing.
(i) The
individual must have satisfactorily completed two (2) hours of
nursing credits or equivalent during the past five (5) years.
(ii) An
official transcript verifying the completion of nursing courses
shall be submitted.
6. Proof of
current certification in an appropriate nursing specialty area.
7. Proof of
retaking and successfully completing the examination required in
Rule .01 of this chapter.

Individual’s desiring to sign up for a course(s) at
ETSU must be fully accepted to ETSU as an UNDERGRAD SPECIAL through
the Admissions Office and register for one of the suggested courses
at the bottom of this document. Please note that not all courses are
offered every semester and many of the suggested courses have
required prerequisites. Enrollment may be limited to those courses
with space available depending on overall Nursing enrollment.
After completion of the selected Nursing course, send
an official transcript verifying successful completion of the
course(s) to:

Not all

Academic Advisor in the College of Nursing for course availability.
Tuition and fees must be paid by the appropriate deadline.
Students
must have a Bachelor’s Degree in nursing to take graduate level
nursing courses. Those who wish to pursue an official degree program
must meet all College and University Criteria. Those persons with an
Associate Degree in Nursing or graduates from a Hospital Diploma
program are encouraged to look into our RN-BSN program.
