Students must be enrolled at least half time (6 credit hours) to be eligible for coverage, except for those students who are physically and/or mentally disabled. Such a disability must be certified by a physician and prevent the student from enrolling in 6 Credit Hours.
Further insured students must actively attend class at least for the first 31 days after the date for which the coverage was purchased.
For those students who are enrolled at least half-time and degree seeking, internet/online classes do fulfill enrollment requirements as long as the insured individual actively attends classes. Home study, correspondence, and television courses do not meet eligibility requirements for the program.
Dependents
Eligible students may also insure their dependents. Eligible Dependents are the spouse and unmarried children under 25 years of age who are not self-supporting.
Alternative Coverage
For those individuals who may not meet the stated eligibility requirements, alternate coverage options can be arranged by calling 1-800-550-4870.The clinic does not file any student insurance claims. Student Health will provide the student with the necessary charge information to submit their own claims to their personal insurance company.
