The Office of Cultural Affairs is responsible for coordinating division wide initiatives to improve the diversity of the study body, faculty and staff, and enhance the cultural milieu of the campus.  Through the efforts of this office to facilitate collaboration and cooperation among the current outreach programs, a "Pathway" approach for identifying and encouraging disadvantaged and minority students interested in health careers is enhanced. In addition to working with programs such as PREP and DISCOVER, the office offers a leadership conference for approximately 60 migrant students annually.

Through the web site and conducting cultural awareness sessions, the office also provides resources for enhancing the cultural competency of faculty, staff and students within the health sciences programs, as well as assisting with the development of culturally sensitive curricula. Community and organizational partnerships through this office with the leadership of various culturally defined areas across the region provide experiential opportunities for students which enhance their preparation for dealing with diversity.
