Analog Telephone Instructions

This guide is for single line desk set and wall set
telephones. It explains how to use the
telephone and its system features.
System features are the special functions your telephone will perform in
addition to making and receiving calls.
System Features
Hold allows users to place the handset on the cradle without
disconnecting the other party.

Press Flash
-
Dial *4.
-
Hang up receiver.
-
Pick up handset to retrieve.
Park allows the user to transfer calls to an extension and
put it on hold there for later retrieval.
This feature is useful when you want to continue a conversation at an
idle extension number or transfer a call to a busy extension.
To park a call on an extension:

Press Flash.
-
Get dial tone.
-
Dial * 9 + the five-digit extension number where the call
will be parked.

Hang up.
To retrieve a parked call:
-
Lift receiver.
-
Get dial tone.
-
Dial * 8 + five-digit extension number where call is parked.
Transfer allows users, after answering or originating a
call, to direct that call to another telephone extension. The connection
between the caller and the person to whom the call is being transferred is
complete when you hang up the receiver.
To transfer a call to another extension:

Press Flash
-
Dial the five-digit extension number.
-
Announce caller.
-
Hang up. Connection is complete.
Pickup
The Call Pickup feature allows you to answer a call ringing
on an extension within your call pickup group.
Please call the Help Desk at 9-4648 to change or assign numbers to your
call pickup group.

Lift receiver.
-
Get dial tone.
-
Dial # # 7.
The Directed Pickup feature allows you to answer a call
ringing on any extension, as long as you know the extension number.

Lift receiver.
-
Get dial tone.
-
Dial # 7 + five-digit ringing extension.
Conference Calling lets you connect three parties, including yourself.If you have more than three
parties to be included in the call, please call the Help Desk at 9-4648 in
advance of the conference call to arrange for conference call equipment to be
set up in your office.

Connect with the first caller.
-
Press Flash.
-
Dial number of additional caller.
-
Press Flash. All should be connected.
Call Forwarding automatically routes incoming calls intended
for a particular extension to the extension you designate.
To forward your calls to another extension:

Lift receiver.
-
Get dial tone.
-
Dial * 3 + five-digit extension where calls will be
routed.

Hang up.
To cancel call forwarding from your extension:

Lift receiver.
-
Get dial tone.
-
Dial *3.
-
Listen for confirmation tones. Hang up.
Last Number Redial allows you to redial the last number
dialed from your telephone.

Lift receiver.
-
Get dial tone.
-
Dial #9.
Emergency Dialing

In an emergency: Dial 911

ETSU Police: Dial

Local and Toll-Free Dialing

Campus numbers: Dial
only the last five digits.

VA Hospital numbers: Dial 78 + five-digit extension.

Local, off campus: Dial 8 + the seven-digit number.

Toll-free: Dial 8 + 1
+ toll-free number
Long Distance Dialing

Dial 8 + area code + seven-digit number
International Dialing
-
Dial 8 + 011 + country code + city code + local telephone
number

The country code and city code, if any, can be found on
pages 10 and 11 of the Sprint telephone directory.
-
University telephones are not automatically assigned
international dialing privileges. Please
contact the Help Desk at 9-4648 to enter a request to have your extension set
up for international dialing.
