ETSU GoldMail

ETSU's GoldMail is the new replacement for the iMail student e-mail system. It provides some much desired features.

You can access GoldMail by going to http://goldmail.etsu.edu/. You can also click on the GoldMail Login link over in the left-hand column. If you're familiar with Google's Gmail service, you won't be able to go to Gmail's login screen and access your GoldMail account. The services are kept separate.

You can see a nice introduction to GoldMail here.

Q&A

Here are answers to some popular concerns

How do I find out my username and password?

Your username for Goldmail is the same as your username for Desire2Learn, computer labs, the Sherrod Library password-protected web pages, and pretty much every other ETSU password-protected resource (except for Goldlink). If you don't know what your username is, try going to the ETSU homepage, selecting "PEOPLE" in the upper right, entering your last name, and searching for yourself on the People Finder. If you find yourself on the People Finder, your username will be the part in your e-mail address to the left of the @ symbol.

Will messages that are sent to my iMail account be redirected to my GoldMail account?

Yes. Any new messages that are addressed to iMail accounts will automatically be forwarded to the corresponding GoldMail account until December 21, 2007.

What's happening to iMail?

iMail is being replaced with GoldMail. GoldMail will be able to provide you with more space and a few extra features that iMail wasn't set up to provide. iMail will still be available until December 21, 2007 to ease the transition to a new e-mail system. We recommend that you notify any contacts of your new e-mail address. The only thing that changes is that "iMail" in your e-mail address will be "GoldMail" instead. For instance, zabc1@iMail.etsu.edu will become zabc1@goldmail.etsu.edu.

Will the messages that are currently in my iMail account be transferred to my GoldMail account?

No. If you want to keep some messages, we recommend that you forward any messages that are currently in your iMail account to your GoldMail account or any other account that you prefer.

What will happen to messages that are sent to my iMail account after iMail is taken offline?

Those messages will be returned to the sender as undeliverable.

I went to Gmail's login screen but I wasn't able to log in. Why?

Google's Gmail service and GoldMail are separate. You'll need to go to GoldMail's login screen at http://goldmail.etsu.edu/.

If I have a Gmail account, can I combine my GoldMail account with it?

No. Combining the accounts isn't possible

Is it possible to set my ETSU e-mail address to be my Gmail account?

No. You'll have a separate GoldMail account. You could try forwarding your GoldMail account to any other account.

Can I forward messages from my GoldMail account?

Yes. After you've logged in, click on the Settings link in the upper right-hand part of the screen. Click on the Forwarding and POP tab. In the Forwarding section, click on the button next to Forward a copy of incoming mail, enter your e-mail address, and then tell GoldMail what you want it to do with the message after it's been forwarded.

Can I download messages from my GoldMail account to my computer?

Yes. When you're logged into GoldMail, click on the Settings link in the upper right-hand part of the screen. Click on the Forwarding and POP tab and turn on POP in the POP Download section. You'll then tell GoldMail what to do with messages that you download. You can also get configuration instructions to help you set up your e-mail client.

Note: ETSU will not be supporting setups for e-mail clients. Please refer to the configuration instructions for assistance in setting up your e-mail client.
