How can I tell if my TV can receive a digital signal?
The only sure way to know if your TV can receive a digital signal is to test it on the digital cable TV system. In general, most TVs sold in the United States after 2006 include a digital (QAM) tuner, although some low end and less expensive models still did not include the functionality to tune digital channels as late as 2009. Many TVs, especially high end TVs, produced between 2000 and 2006 will also be equipped with digital tuners. Any TV produced prior to 2000 will be unlikely to include digital tuners, but high end TVs in this category may have internal digital tuners however they may not be the QAM standard so be careful. Most TVs will have a sticker on the back of the TV listing their manufacture date.

What can I do if my TV does not receive the digital signal?
If your TV is not capable of receiving a digital signal your choice will be to either purchase a new TV or Digital Set Top Box in order to view the digital programming. Our cable TV provider has recommended the following Set Top Boxes:

The cable system was converted to digital and I have a QAM receiver but I do not receive any channels. What do I do?
You need to "scan" your channels. This is generally done from the setup menu on your TV or your external receiver. This will take a few minutes to complete and then you will see all the channels again.
My TV isn't HD capable. Does that mean I can no longer watch the channels that are listed as HD now?
No, the same channels in digital standard definition will still be available to you.
Will any TV channels be broadcast in analog on the ETSU cable TV system?
Yes, in order to provide television service while our customers plan for the change to digital TV service, OIT will continue to broadcast a limited number of TV channels in analog. Channels currently being broadcast in analog are listed below:
