MODIFY TCP/IP SETTING IN
WINDOWS XP |
1.
Begin by clicking the Start button at the bottom left of
the screen:

2. Select Control Panel from the right half of the
Start Menu:

Select Network and Internet Connection:

-
Click on the Network Connection icon:

-
Double click on the current LAN settings to open the
properties of your NIC:

-
Click on the Properties button on the bottom of the Local
Area Connection Status window:

Double click on the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item, or
you can single click and select Properties:

Make sure the Obtain an IP address automatically radio
button is selected to enable DHCP:

Once DHCP is enabled, you may need to do a release and
renew of the currently leased IP address. You’ll do this with
traditional NT-based DHCP commands in a DOS window. Select
the Start button as in Step 1, and single click on Run.

Type in “cmd” (without quotes) in the Run window:

This will pull up a traditional black window with a prompt
and blinking cursor:

12. Simply type in commands based on the following
scheme:
ipconfig <option>
Where options can be: release
renew
all
or no option
at all
Examples: ipconfig all
ipconfig release
