Diabetes Management Certificate Course for Pharmacists

This course will prepare pharmacists to improve and provide pharmaceutical care to diabetic patients.  Upon completion of the course, pharmacists will understand the pathophysiology of diabetes and the goals of therapy, and be able to assess and monitor diabetic patients, working with other healthcare providers to adjust medications and improve patient outcomes.

The course will be ~30 CE hours in length, including reading and patient care assignments.  There will be two written exams and a practical exam consisting of two patient cases requiring intervention and counseling by pharmacist participants. 

The course materials will be available on an internet site to allow students access to reading materials and slide-audio presentations during the course.

East Tennessee State University is approved by the Accreditation Council for pharmacy education as a provider of pharmacy continuing education.  ACPE Universal Program Number 093-000-07-001-L01.  Up to 30 contact hours (3.0 CEU) will be provided for those attending the course and completing the assignments and paperwork.  Additional certificate credit will be awarded to participating pharmacists who successfully complete the written and practical examinations.

 


Pharmacy Technician Training Course


We are offering an ACPE-approved INTERNET Pharmacy Tech Training Course which students can start 12-14 weeks before they plan to take the PTCB national certification exam for pharmacy technicians.

The internet course is a 12 weeks lecture-based program. The course provides online access to lectures and materials for students to complete the course at any internet-accessible location.

Photoprotection

This program for community pharmacists and other health professionals reviews sun damage to skin and strategies for photoprotection. At the conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

  1. State the major differences in the exposure to and biological effects of UVA, UVB and UVC radiation.
  2. Compare and contrast available preparations for photoprotection
  3. Know three important messages for counseling patients on successful photoprotection strategies.
