Michael Allen

       Michael (PhD University of Saint Louis, 2006) joined the department in 2006 as an assistant professor. His primary research interests are in Social and Political Philosophy, and German Idealism. In addition to publishing on Hegel's political philosophy, Michael has published on the concept of equality in a multicultural democracy.  He is currently working on the problem of deliberative democratic responses to extremistpublic speech, and on the relationship of deliberative democracy to civil disobedience and terrorism.
