Each student must have the ASTR-1010 Astronomy I Laboratory Manual from the bookstore for this course, as well as the Star and Planet Finder. A scientific calculator will be needed for exams and for the labs. There is no required text for the course; however, Astronomy Today by Chaisson and McMillan is recommended. This book covers all topics in astronomy and is used for both Astronomy I and II. Astronomy I deals mainly with those chapters pertinent to the planets.
