The text for the course is Astronomy Today by Chaisson and McMillan. This book covers all topics in astronomy; however, Astronomy I deals mainly with those chapters pertinent to the planets. Each student must have the ASTR-1010 Astronomy I Laboratory Manual from the bookstore for this course, as well as the Star and Planet Finder. A scientific calculator will be needed for exams and for the labs.
