Those who select the engineering transfer program at ETSU will transfer to a school that offers a regular engineering degree after taking 65 credit hours of coursework. Engineering transfer students are classified as pre-engineering majors (PENG) and are advised by faculty in the departments of Physics, Astronomy, & Geology, and Mathematics. The most critical feature of the program is that students following the transfer plan must transfer to a four-year engineering school after two years at ETSU. If, at the end of two years, they choose not to transfer, they must commit to a major on the ETSU campus.

The elective in the fourth semester can be chosen in an area
of general education or used to support a particular engineering
interest (e.g., chemical, industrial, electrical, etc).
