Here's yet another interstellar creature-- the wonderful Eagle Nebula, one of the most distinctive creatures of the sky!! The wings of this huge bird span 10's of light years-- for light to fly from the tip of one wing to the other takes many years!

The dark patches you see in the middle are big dark clouds of dust, sitting in front of a bright glowing nebula, absorbing the light from the nebula.

On a very dark night, you can actually SEE interstellar dust with your own eyes, without a telescope. Going back to our old familiar sky
