Artist Bio
Tim Barnwell

Mr. Barnwell began working on this photographic project in the late 1970’s while chief photographer for Mountain Living magazine. His photography is widely collected and is included in the permanent collections of The Metropolitan Museum of Art (NYC), the New Orleans Museum of Art, the High Museum of Art, R.J. Reynolds Industries, Bank of America, and The Mint Museum in Charlotte, NC. His images have appeared in scores of magazines and books including Time, Newsweek, U.S. News & World Report, American Craft, Travel South, House Beautiful, Astronomy, USAir, Billboard, AmericanStyle, Blue Ridge Country, National Parks, Sky & Telescope, Black and White Photography and Outdoor Photographer. His work can be viewed at www.barnwellphoto.com. A collection of over one hundred images, titled The Face of Appalachia: Portraits from the Mountain Farm, was published in December 2003 in book form by W.W. Norton & Co./New York.
