3. Interdisciplinary Grants

Deadline:  4:30 pm February 1, 2010 for fiscal year beginning July 1, 2010

Maximum amount: $50,000

The Interdisciplinary Research Seed Grant Program aims to enhance the research programs of faculty members in all fields and disciplines by providing seed funding to establish cooperative and interdisciplinary research programs, by stimulating the development of new ideas and areas of research, and by developing necessary infrastructure. This competitive, peer-reviewed program provides initial support for new, long-term programs of collaborative interdisciplinary research that will have strong potential to attract external funding. Proposals should involve multiple colleges, centers, and/or departments at East Tennessee State University and collaborating sites.  Awardees must agree to submit a proposal related to their interdisciplinary seed grant topic to an external funding source no more than 12 months after the award period ends.

RFA for RDC Interdisciplinary Grants Program

 FY11  (Deadline: Feb. 1, 2010)

$50,000 is available for the FY11 Interdisciplinary Grants program. Proposals for funding during this fiscal year are broadly categorized as seed grants and may support either an interdisciplinary research project or the convening of a symposium focused around an interdisciplinary research topic. Funds will be available July 1, 2009 for one year and may be requested for salaries, supplies and travel as well as equipment.

All funding requests under the RDC Interdisciplinary Grants Program should clearly describe the project, how it is “interdisciplinary”, and address how the project or symposium will strengthen and progress the collaboration toward being competitive for external funding.

If you need assistance with using the application system, please contact the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs Administration at 9-6000.  Questions about eligibility and proposal criteria should be directed to the Chair of the Committee, Dr. David Hurley.
