Configure your Macintosh for the ETSU network

Step 1:

Plug the patch cable to the Ethernet card in the back of your computer.

If your computer does not have a connector for the patch cable, then you will need to purchase an AUI-10-baseT adapter from one of the vendors.

Connect the other end of the cable to the Blue jack on the wall. If you do not have a patch cable, you will need to purchase one from one of the vendors.


Step 2:

Open the Apple (applelogo.gif (1047 bytes)) menu and choose Control Panels

Step 3:

Double-click the TCP/IP control panel to open it.

Step 4:

Open the "Connect via" pop-up menu and choose Ethernet.

Step 5:

Open the "Configure" pop-up menu and choose "Using DHCP Server."

Step 6:

Click on the close box to close the control panel and restart your machine.

Netscape is included with System 8. If you have a version that does not include Netscape, please stop by one of the campus labs and download Fetch from the ETSU ftp server.

If you have Netscape installed, open it and go to ftp://ftp.etsu.edu/pub/mac/ to download Fetch or any of the rest of the software available for download.
