What type of computer do I need to get on the ETSU campus network? A
PC or Macintosh?
A: You can access the ETSU network
via a Windows or Macintosh. However, a Windows PC may be more compatibile
with PCs in campus computer labs.
Q:
What type of Ethernet card do I need to access the ETSU network?
A: Any Ethernet card that has an
RJ-45 connector.
Q:
What kind of software do the computer labs on campus have?
A: Our computer labs use the Microsoft
Office suite of products.
Q:
How do I get an e-mail address from ETSU and what will it be?
A: E-mail accounts can be
established at any of our computer labs on campus, once you have
registered with the Registrar office. We also have Web-based
instructions for your E-mail account.

How late are the computer labs open?
A: During the Fall and Spring semesters,
the lab hours are
Sunday - 12:00pm
- 2:00am
Monday - Thursday - 8:00am - 2:00am
Friday - 8:00am - 10:00pm
Saturday - 12:00pm - 10:00pm

access?
A: Call the Student Help Desk.

What is the lease time of my IP address?
A: 5 Hours.

Can I have a static IP address?
A: No, we do not assign static IP
addresses.

Can I have a custom host name?
A: That feature is not available
from campus network services.
Q:
My patch cable is not long enough. Can you give me a longer one?
A: You
can purchase cables from one of these vendors.
Q:
Can someone from the Office of Information Technology set up
my machine for me?
A: ETSU does not provide that service.
