Yes, East Tennessee State University is able
to provide a portfolio of evidence supporting compliance.
STATEMENT OF RATIONALE FOR JUDGMENT OF COMPLIANCE
The chief executive officer of East Tennessee State University is President
Paul E. Stanton, Jr. (Biographical Information), whose primary
responsibility is to the university. Dr. Stanton is responsible to the
Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) through the chancellor for the operation
and management of the university. The presidents in the TBR system report
annually to the board of the work and condition of the institutions under
its guidance (TBR Manual, Duties of the Presidents; ETSU Office ofHuman
Resources, Function of President's Position and Qualifications).
Employees of public institutions may not serve as public
members of the TBR (TBR Manual, Selection and Terms of Board
Members). The chairperson of the TBR is elected each year from its
membership (TBR Manual, Title, Election and Duties of Board
Members; TBR Board Members). Dr. Stanton is neither a member nor
an officer of the Tennessee Board of Regents.
