Yes, East Tennessee State University is able to provide
a portfolio of evidence supporting compliance.
STATEMENT OF RATIONALE FOR JUDGMENT OF COMPLIANCE
The history of East Tennessee State University began
in 1911 when the institution opened as the East Tennessee State Normal
School with a faculty of twenty-two and a student body of two hundred.
Subsequently, the institution evolved into East Tennessee State Teachers
College in 1925, East Tennessee State College in 1943, and East Tennessee
State University in 1963 (ETSU Fact Book, History; ETSU
Graduate Catalog, The University; ETSU Fast Facts).
Thus, the institution has been in continuous operation with students enrolled
in degree programs since it's founding in 1911.
Today a student body of over eleven thousand and an
accompanying staff of teaching and administrative personnel make ETSU
a center of educational opportunity in the region (ETSU Fact Book,
Enrollment). Since 1911, over 60,000 degrees have been awarded
(ETSU Fast Facts).
