We are very pleased to be a part of the pilot project for the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. ETSU is a healthy institution capable of undertaking this exciting, but challenging, process.

Colleges and universities must constantly undergo self-evaluation and renewal to meet the needs of a rapidly changing world and to achieve at the highest levels. Also, in the face of ever-increasing financial constraints, institutions of higher education must demonstrate accountability to themselves, to funding agencies, and to the public.

As new accreditation standards develop, all institutions will benefit from building on their strengths and improving areas of weakness. We look forward to playing a role in finding the means to carry out this mission.

The ETSU community is humbled to be counted among the pioneer institutions involved in this pilot program and to be recognized as a university committed to quality and accountability. It is a pleasure to assist in serving the schools of our region.
