Additional information

  • Deadline:
    • Priority consideration is given to students who complete the scholarship application by March 1.  Students admitted after March 1 will be considered while funding is available.
  • Requirements:
    • Must be a new student to ETSU - currently enrolled ETSU students are not eligible.
    • Out-of-state students who live in counties within 250 miles of ETSU are eligible. This includes a selection of counties from within the following nine states:
    • Minimum high school GPA of 3.0
    • Not a TN resident
    • Be enrolled in at least 15 hours per semester 
  • Exclusions:
    • Scholarships are not available for residents of TN.
    • Students who are participating in another program which assists with out-of-state tuition (including, but not limited to, Creative Arts Scholarships, e-Rate, Honors College Scholarships, Academic Common Market, Public Service Corps Scholarships) are not eligible
  • How to Apply:
    • Students will be automatically considered upon admission to ETSU.
  • Award Distribution:
    • Scholarships are competitive and are available until funding is depleted.  Students who are admitted to ETSU after March 1 will be considered while funding is available.

    • Domestic, out-of-state students who reside in a county beyond a 250 mile radius of ETSU are eligible.
    • Minimum high school GPA of 3.0
    • Not a TN resident
    • Be enrolled in at least 15 hours per semester 
  • Exclusions:
    • Scholarships are not available for residents of TN.
    • Students who are participating in another program which assists with out-of-state tuition (including, but not limited to, Academic Common Market, Creative Arts Scholarships, E-rate,Public Service Corps Scholarships, George L. Carter, Honors College Scholarships) are not eligible
  • How to Apply:
    • Students will be automatically considered upon admission to ETSU.

  • Requirements:
    • Must be a new ETSU freshman student residing outside of TN - currently enrolled ETSU students are not eligible.
    • Scholarship is awarded for a maximum of 8 semesters (does not include summers)
    • Students who maintain the scholarship and graduate in 4 years will also be eligible for a scholarship to cover tuition and fees for their first semester of graduate school at ETSU.
    • Recipients will live on campus their freshmen year in a service oriented living and learning community and enroll in ETSU 1020 (fall term) and SRVL 1020 (spring term)
    • Not a TN resident or a resident of a border county whose residents receive in-state tuition status
    • Recipients must register for and complete 15 hours each semester and earn a cumulative GPA of 2.5
    • Recipients must complete 40 hours of service and attend all meetings and training sessions (10 per semester). Most students will serve in local public elementary schools with the Governor’s Birth to Books Foundation.
  • Award:
    • Scholarship recipients receive support in an amount equivalent to the out-of-state tuition (approximately $18,000 per academic year)
