The College, part of East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, TN, educates students in the areas of Applied Human Sciences, Computer & Information Science, Geography, Geology, and Geomatics, Military Science, and Engineering Technology. It provides students with modern laboratory and computing facilities; Internet and World Wide Web access; evening, distance learning, and off-site classes; internship and cooperative placements in industry; and exchange agreements with foreign universities. A College Honors Program is available to qualified undergraduates. Programs are offered at the baccalaureate and masters levels. The College currently enrolls 1,201 undergraduate and 149 graduate students in its various programs of study.


College Mission

To prepare educated persons who function constructively in the applied sciences for global service and leadership in a technological society and add to the body of knowledge in our disciplines, using our experience to the benefit of the University's several publics.

College Focus

The College of Applied Science and Technology promotes specialized and professional competence in a variety of technological and applied science programs of study. The curriculum includes, in addition to the major topics of study, course work in business, humanities, science, mathematics, and the social sciences. Emphasis is placed on communication and problem-solving competency; the development of interpersonal skills; and the application of basic scientific and research knowledge. A strong background in science and mathematics is recommended for entry into the programs.
