ETSU Reverse Traverse Team Awarded 2nd Place

April 14, 2007, Lexington, KY

The ETSU Team, Reverse Traverse, won second place in the 3rd Annual Appalachian Ideas Network Showcase competing against teams from five other schools in the Appalachian Region. The award included a plaque and cash award of $1,500 to help start the business venture.

Reverse Traverse is a Web 2.0 social network concept that links the people of similar demographics to physical locations in the surrounding area. The concept was formulated in the ETSU graduate class, Innovative Entrepreneurship (ENTC/MGMT 5640), by a team consisting of Danielle Oprean, James Spencer and Adam Perry. Oprean and Spencer are both Masters of Science degree candidates in the Technology & Geomatics department and Perry is a recent Bachelor of Science graduate from the Computer & Information Science department.

The Appalachian Ideas Network is a cooperative association of public and private institutions in the Appalachian region and focuses on research and projects related to social entrepreneurship. Another ETSU Team, Blue Plum Animation Festival, won first place in the contest two years ago.
