Program Overview

The ETSU Department of Technology & Geomatics, in conjunction with the ETSU School of Graduate Studies, offers a Masters of Science (M.S.) in Technology with a concentration in Geoscience. This graduate program is structured around the fields of geography, geology and/or geomatics to study the earth as a system to

  • provide students with opportunities to enhance their general, professional, and technical backgrounds, and
  • help prepare ethical and articulate graduates who will be responsive to changes in technology and adapt to emerging technical needs and concepts.

Why study Geoscience at the Masters level?

The M.S. in Technology - Geosciences concentration is designed to provide students with strong foundation in management and research, while allowing students to focus in any of the three contained disciplines: Geography, Geology or Geomatics. A Plan of Study will be established with the assistance of your adviser.

Program Admissions Requirements

  1. A student must possess a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning. The degree major or minor should be in a technically related area. In case of a deficiency in the applicant's undergraduate background, the student will be required to complete needed undergraduate courses prior to acceptance into the graduate program.

  2. Consideration for admission to the graduate program is normally an overall grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 grading system.
