Program Announcements
The ETSU department of Engineering Technology, Surveying, and Digital Media is currently
considering the formation of new Engineering Technology (ENTC) cohorts that can began
as early as the Fall 2009 semester. An informational meeting will be held on Thursday, April 9th, at 6:30 p.m. in
the College Center Building of the Walters State Community College campus (located off Davy Crockett Parkway, Morristown, TN).
The ET cohort programs are primarily for students seeking to complete either (a) a four year, B.S. degree in
Engineering Technology &/or (b) an M.S. degree in Technology.
Depending upon a demonstrated level of interest, ETSU may develop one or more
program-specific or multidisciplinary undergraduate cohorts for students studying in
one of the following Engineering Technology program areas:
Biomedical;
Construction;
Electronics;
Manufacturing (General &/or Programming & Automation sequences);
Product Development, or
Industrial Technology.
If there is sufficient interest, ETSU may also form a new graduate-level cohort program
for students interested in pursuing an
M.S. degree in Technology with a concentration in Engineering Technology.
The cohort(s), developed to satisfy the needs of previously underserved populations of students with
existing, transferrable A.A.S. (2-year technical) degrees within the Morristown, Greeneville, Jefferson City region,
will follow the previous model of engineering technology cohorts by offering
a schedule of at least two (2) technical courses taught each term for at least six (6) consecutive
semesters. All cohort-related classes will be offered during the evenings and will be delivered either locally (typically
on the Walters State campus) or via through realtime or asynchronous methods (e.g., interactive Internet two-way
video classroom conferencing or traditional on-line courses).
If you are interested in joining an Engineering Technology cohort, please
contact Mr. Bob Dixon, the on-site ETSU cohort coordinator,
by phone at (423) 318-2758 or by E-mail at bob.dixon@ws.edu.
Walters State Cohort Program Overview
ETSU, in partnership with
Walters State Community College (WSCC),
has successfully offer an on-site 2+2
transfer
program for a B.S. in Engineering Technology with a concentration in either
Industrial Technology (IT) or
Manufacturing Engineering Technology (MET).
As with previous cohorts established with other community college partners (e.g.,
Pellissippi State), as the Walters State /ETSU
cohort relationship matures, ETSU will consider offering other cohort programs
in one or more Engineering Technology programs or expand to other disciplines offered by the
College of Business & Technology.
It is strongly recommended that all prospective transfer students
visit the departmental "Transferring into ETSU" page for
detailed information regarding university and departmental
policies and requirements prior to transferring into the department's various programs.
Additional background information, the philosophy, and goals
of the ETSU Engineering Technology off-campus cohorts
can be found on the department's "Off-Campus Cohorts" page.
