Plan of Study
You
will design a plan of study consisting of 18 (thesis option) or 21
(project option) semester hours of approved coursework.

*Special topics courses and the MALS
seminar at times focus on religion or spirituality. Examples
include Native American Thought, Buddhism, 20th Century American
Religion, and Religion in Appalachia. One MALS 5200 course may be
taken as an elective, provided topics studies are different.
Students also
have the option of taking up to nine hours of approved courses at
Emmanuel School of Religion in Johnson City.
Culminating Experience
Students have
the option of writing a thesis or completing a special project.
