For Virginia Residents

The in-state tuition opportunity beginning fall semester 2006 for newly enrolled East Tennessee State University students residing in three Virginia counties and five counties in North Carolina also applies to current ETSU students in these areas, say admissions officials.

Noting the strong interest in this new tuition program approved by the Tennessee Board of Regents in December 2005, ETSU officials point out that currently enrolled university students from these eight counties do not have to meet initial academic standards required of new admits in order to qualify for the same tuition opportunity. However, all ETSU students must remain in “good academic standing” for renewal of this rate each semester.

The in-state tuition program applies to new and current ETSU students residing in Lee, Scott and Washington counties in Virginia or in Avery, Madison, Mitchell, Watauga and Yancey counties in North Carolina.

The specific requirements for new undergraduates in all academic programs are provided at www.etsu.edu/admissions, and the standards pertaining to all new graduate students are available at www.etsu.edu/gradstud. Undergraduate information may be obtained by calling 1-800-GO2-ETSU (462-3878) or (423) 439-4213. Graduate information is available at (423) 439-4221.

Both current and new ETSU students must still file the “Request for In-State Tuition” form, available from the undergraduate or graduate admissions offices and from the two Web sites.
