Welcome to the ETSU MSW Program
As Director of the MSW Program, I would like to welcome you to the East Tennessee State University Department of Social Work, Master of Social Work Program. We have been accepting students into the MSW program since fall 2003 and were awarded Candidacy Status by the Council on Social Work Education in June 2004. We expect to receive initial Accreditation Status in 2007. In May 2005, we graduated our first MSW class. We are very proud of our MSW program that has a traditional two-year program with a clinical concentration and advanced standing
clinical concentration program for students who have a Bachelor of Social Work no older than five years. Our faculty consists of nine dedicated professionals who provide administrative and teaching excellence to the MSW program. Our students are very involved in the MSW program providing input to the development of the program, both as student representatives on our departmental committees and through verbal and written evaluation of the program. The Social Work department enjoys a close working relationship with local community agency
professionals, many of whom sit on our Community Advisory Committee or/and function as Field Instructors for our students. As a new MSW program, we find the input of our faculty, students and community professionals invaluable to the development and growth of our program. As the MSW Program Director, I want to also express the program’s appreciation for your interest in our graduate program. If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at 423-439-6013 or by email
