The BSW stipend certification program
consists of two courses and field placement at the Department
of Children’s Services in addition to traditional degree
requirements. Screening criteria include GPA, a submitted
essay, and an interview with the Social Work Department and DCS
representatives.
Successful applicants will pass a
background check to be certain that they are eligible for
employment with the state of Tennessee. Selected students
will receive tuition and a stipend each semester to cover the
costs of books and any additional expenses incurred while
enrolled. The student is then obligated to work for DCS for a
two-year commitment.
