I was a business teacher and academic dean of a small junior college for 10 years before joining ETSU in 1992. I first was employed by the Office of Human Resources and then later transferred to the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences in 1997 and am in my 16th year in the department. I have three degrees from ETSU: B.S. in Business Education in 1976, M.S. in Educational Administration in 1995, and Ed.D. in Educational Administation in 2012. I have previously served two terms as a Staff Senator from 2000 to 2004 and served as a member and chair of various committees including Thanksgiving Basket Committee, Handbook Committee, Elections Committee, Staff Awards Picnic Committee. I have also served on the ETSU Commission for Women Standing Committee, ETSU Acute Communicable Disease Committee and the ETSU Safety Committee. I am a member of the ETSU chapters of Kappa Delta Pi, Omicron Delta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, and Gamma Beta Phi. I have served as the Counselor/Advisor to ETSU's chapter of Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in Education where we have won six consecutive Achieving Chapter Excellence awards and in 2007 were awarded the most outstanding chapter in the international organization. I view my role as a Staff Senator as a challenge to continue to provide open lines of communication and positive feedback to all staff and to continue the successful activities of past senators.
