J. Ann Eargle

Ann Eargle began her employment as an executive aide in the College of Nursing (CON), Office of the Dean, in August 2004. Soon after, in December 2004, she was promoted to coordinator for that same office. As coordinator, she performs core administrative office functions as well as supervising and coordinating external CON events. As the appointed Senator for the CON, her term began in August 2010. Ann is a member of the Staff Senate Executive Committee serving as Secretary. She is a member of the Staff Senate Awards, Holiday, Staff Development and Evaluation, and Visibility Committees. Service to current college committees and councils includes the Administrative Team (2004-present), Tenure, Promotion, & Reappointment (2004-present), Staff Advocacy (fall 2010-present), and the CON Development Council (Indefinite). In addition, she staff supports the Appalachian Consortium for Nursing Education and Practice (ACNEP), and has played an active role in the ETSU Employee Giving Campaign from 2004 to the present. Past committee involvement includes Chair, CON Staff Awards Committee and has served as a member of the ETSU/VA Medical Campus Institutional Review Board. Ann received the ETSU LEAD Certification in 2011.
For all but five years of her career, Ann has worked in healthcare administration. She began her employment in healthcare administration in Baltimore – working for an orthopedic practice where she believes she learned the fundamentals of the healthcare environment; managed a Johnson City family practice office; and just prior to landing at ETSU, she worked for Medical Education Assistance Corporation (MEAC). She is a 1978 graduate of the MEDIX School, Maryland, and received her CPS in 2008.
Ann is a breast cancer survivor and volunteer for the American Cancer Society (ACS) – serving in the Reach to Recovery arm of the ACS. She is trained to give hope, support, and up-to-date information, including literature for spouses, children, friends, and other loved ones. Most importantly, as a volunteer, she offers the hope of an improved quality of life as survivors press forward toward a normal productive lifestyle. Ann serves as a volunteer for Dava Lee Russell Ministries creating custom graphic design for printed materials. She is an active member of Cornerstone Church, Johnson City. In her free time, Ann enjoys reading Spiritual/Inspirational books, porcelain doll making, crafting, quilting, swimming, and is an avid pool shooter.
