Kathy Smith

Kathy Smith came to work at ETSU in August 1992 making her a member of the ETSU family for a total of 18 years. Throughout her tenure, Kathy has worked in several areas of the university including academics and administration. In 1999 she graduated from ETSU with a Bachelor Degree of General Studies. Kathy has completed the CPS exam for professional assistants in the state of Tennessee.
Kathy has served and been involved with Staff Senate for over ten years. She had the honor of serving as President for 1.5 terms due to the President in 2004-05 stepping down due to an illness.
In 2005, at the request of Dr. Stanton, Kathy served as the chair of the Employee Giving Campaign. She has served on various committees throughout the University such as the Wellness, Staff Convocation, Search, ETSU Relay for Life, and American Diabetes Committees. She has had the privilege of coordinating the walks for the American Diabetes Association, in conjunction with Dr. Stanton, for three years.
Kathy enjoys pencil drawing, designing and creating gemstone jewelry, hiking, reading (especially non-fiction and history), spending time with family and friends, volunteering in the kitchen in shelters for the homeless and volunteering with the animal shelter. She also enjoys listening to music such as, contemporary Christian and rock and roll, bluegrass, and country.
