Alpha Sigma Lambda:

Alpha Sigma Lambda (ASL) is a national honor society for adult students. The Zeta Tau chapter of ASL was organized at ETSU in 1990 to honor adult students (over the age of 23) who achieve and maintain high scholastic standards while balancing other life responsibilities.

The Adult, Commuter and Transfer Services (A.C.T.S.) begins a computerized selection process for membership in the Zeta Tau chapter during each spring semester. In order to qualify for membership, students must have at least a 3.2 GPA and have earned 30 semester hours at ETSU ( 15 core hours plus 15 hours outside their major field of study.)

Alpha Sigma Lambda members must participate in two or more service projects and attend one general membership meeting per semester in order to remain in good standing. University-related service projects include serving as volunteers for adult orientations, homecoming events, and honors convocations just to name a few. In addition to serving as volunteers for university related events, Alpha Sigma Lambda members select one outside charity each academic year and donate their time and monies to that organization. The Children's Hospital of the Johnson City Medical Center and the Appalachian Ronald McDonald House are two of the organizations selected over the past few years.

Inquiries regarding ASL membership may be directed to the Adult, Commuter and Transfer Services (A.C.T.S.) at (423) 439-5641.
