Support for Adult, Commuter & Transfer Students:

Creating Adult Peer Support- This program is sometimes referred to as the "adult peer-mentoring program". It is designed for first time entry adults and transfer students. Some of the main features of the program include pre-semester workshops and seminars on diverse areas from the use of Sherrod Library to ETSU's computer labs. Also, featured are pre-semester tours of where your classrooms and buildings are located which will help to get you ready for that first week of class.

University Tutoring Services

University Tutoring Services (423/439-4758) University Tutoring Program - Located in the ARC 2nd floor Culp Center ETSU. A university funded academic support program that offers a variety of tutoring approaches. UTS offers free online tutoring for more than 20 core courses. Group Session tutring is available for select courses.

Stat Cave offers tutoring for MATH 1530/Prob. and Stats. Tutoring takes place in Gilbreath Hall 305/306. Spring 2005: Mon. 2-3 PM and 4-5:30 PM, Tues. 9:45-11:15 AM and 5-7 PM, Fridays open lab all day 8 AM-3 PM.

Student Support Services (423/439-5396) offers one-on-one tutoring to students who meet eligibility requirements. Located on the 3rd floor D.P. Culp Center.

  • Group Sessions - Free sessions offered on campus each semester. visit http://www.etsu.edu/scs/uts for a current schedule.
  • Online Tutoring offers additional material such as handouts and review material. Discussion Boards allow the student to post questions which are later answered by a tutor. Other resources such as practice exams and website links are available.
  • Tutoring subjects include: Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physics, Anatomy and Physiology, Genetics, Psychology, Sociology, Probability and Statistics, Calculus, Pre Calculus, CSCI 1100, ECON 2070/2080, Onling Writing Help, History, and Art History
  • Study Skills: come see us to learn more about how to study for your classes. We specialize in Biology, Chemistry, History, and Probs and Stats. We'll be glad to sit down and work on a study plan to help you succeed!

The Math Laboratory (423/439-7611). If you are having a problem in your math class you can take your book, your assignment and yourself and place it all before one of the able assistants at the math lab located in 309 Warf Pickel Hall. Tell them where you got lost, and they will help you to get found.

The Writing Center (423/439-8202) The assistants who staff the Writing Center will not write your papers for you, but they can and will assist you if you are willing to work and bring a copy of your assignment. Let them know where you are having trouble and they will help you to write your way out of it. The writing center is located in 409 Warf Pickel Hall.
