Whether you are transferring from another college or university, a returning Student, or brand new to ETSU, there are many resources available to help you navigate through your college experience.

Applying for admission to ETSU

The admissions office will provide you with the forms and information that you need when applying to ETSU.

However, if you would like additional assistance, Adult, Commuter and Transfer Services will be glad to meet with you and offer guidance.

Housing Options

ETSU Housing and Residence life offers a variety of on-campus housing options.

If living in one of many on-campus housing options is not for you, ACTS maintains an up-to-date information listing on local rental properties.

Commuter Services

Most of the Students who attend East Tennessee State University are Commuters.  Driving back and forth to classes each day presents a unique set of challenges.  Here at Adult, Commuter, & Transfer Services we can direct you to those services such as: Carpool, RideShare, Disability Services, Maps, BucShot and Johnson City Transit schedules, and Dead Battery or Flat tire assistance.

Dining Options

ETSU and ARAMARK offer many dining options on campus.  There are several meal plans available.  Or you may choose to just pay as go!

Transfer Services

The A.C.T.S. Office exists to serve the special needs of Transfer students at ETSU.  We are a focal point for information, academic and career advisement, assistance, advocacy and support. We are here for you during your transfer process and throughout your time at ETSU.

The Office of Transfer Articulation is another office that is of service to transfer students. They can provide insight into many transfer pathways that are available to you: articulation agreements, universal pathways, transfer course equivalencies and dual admission.

Have Children, Need Childcare?

ETSU has two Child Care Services that accommodate those mothers or fathers with daycare issues at a reasonable price: Little Bucs and the Child Study Center.

There are additional childcare facilities in the area. ACTS maintains a resources web page to direct you to some of these services.

Scholarships

ACTS offers the Re-Entry Student Scholarship to students who are re-entering college, are primary caretakers for their households and who have proven academic success at ETSU.  It is intended to help Students earn their first Undergraduate degree and to help them to prepare for the job market.  The Re-Entry Scholarship is designed to help fill the gap between the amount of money the ETSU Office of Financial Aid has been able to award and the amount of actual need as determined by application to that office.

If you do not qualify for the Re-Entry Student Scholarship, ETSU has many other scholarships available through the Scholarship Office.

Get Involved

If you are looking for physical activity, whether in the form of aerobic exercise or sport activities (i.e., softball, volleyball), we have places especially designed to point you in the right direction.

The newly built Basler Center for Physical Activity (CPA) will offer you everything from free weights to instructed courses in aqua-aerobics.

In addition, we have the SORC (pronounced "source") with student organizations and leadership opportunities offering students a wide variety of activities to allow you to get acquainted with fellow students and potential friends.

If you happen to be joining us from another culture, we have a wonderful program called Multi-Cultural Affairs that will help you transition yourself into ETSU.

Student Health

No matter where you are in life, sickness will be able to find you. Thankfully, ETSU has the Student Health Clinic specifically for those attending here. They also offer immunizations against potential diseases, opportunities to learn about health-related issues.

For those of you who may need insurance, the student health clinic can also provide you with information about Student Health Insurance Coverage.

Disability Services

At Disability Services, you will find a department full of kind, generous people waiting to help you adjust to the ETSU campus.

Counseling Services

Feeling a little overwhelmed or just need someone to talk to?  ETSU Counseling Center is the place to go. They promote mental health, personal growth and positive relationships by providing an array of mental health, career, educational, and consultative services.

Tutoring

If you are struggling with your classes and may need a little help, the Center for Academic Achievement (CFAA) is the place for you. They offer many types of tutoring for many ETSU classes.

In addition to the CFAA, the Student Support Services also offers tutoring for ETSU students who meet certain criteria.

Career Help

Finally, we have the Advisement Resources Career Center (ARC) full of different offices with a wealth of knowledge. The variety of people located here can help you get on the path to a career through different personality tests through the Peer Career Center.

The Career and Internship provides ETSU students and alumni with information, resources and support in setting personally meaningful career goals, developing effective search skills and materials, and generating contacts with employers or graduate schools.   They encourage student involvement in internships and campus organizations to enhance their educational experience and preparation for employment.
