| 2008 - 2009 Re-Entry Scholarship
application is now available
PURPOSE: The scholarship(s) assists students
who are reentering ETSU after having been the (1) primary
caretakers for their households and who have (2) proven
academic success at ETSU. It is intended to help students
earn their first undergraduate degree and to help them to
prepare for the job market. The scholarship is designed
to help fill the gap between the amount of money the ETSU
Office of Financial Aid has been able to award and the amount
of actual need as determined by application to that office.

Shuttle Service from Gray to ETSU in the planning
stages
Johnson City Transit (JCT) expresses thanks
to all ETSU students who responded to a recent survey to
determine the interest in the possible implementation a
free shuttle service between a park-n-ride lot in Gray and
the ETSU campus. Operational considerations (vehicle, staffing,
and parking space needs) are being assessed, and funding
for the service will be evaluated during JCT’s overall
budget preparations for the next fiscal year.
JCT projects a possible start-up date for the shuttle service
of fall semester, 2006, if the aforementioned factors are
resolved. If implemented, the service would probably include
two trips each morning from Gray to ETSU, and two return
trips each afternoon from ETSU to Gray. The input provided
by the students will allow JCT staff to schedule the times
most convenient to meet the needs of the majority of students.

A.C.T.S. hosts annual Commuter Fair
The annual event was held for the first time
in Borchuk plaza and was a big hit with students and faculty
as they made their way across campus. A D.J. topped a perfect
summer-like afternoon at the commuter themed expo.

Free Postings for Off Campus Housing:
A convenient
service is available to both students and landlords
or agents around the Tri-Cities area. ACTS allows
local home or apartment owners to post their properties
available for rent to ETSU students or employees.
The free service has several conditions: the property
must be owned by the rental agent; the owner must
certify that there is no discrimination against
an interested party; and the listing must also
be avaiable for posting on the off-campus
Web Site.
The property owner is not limited to advertising
solely on the ETSU site, and the off-campus listing
is available in both print and Web form. The owner
or agent simply submits an online request or contacts
the Acts office to have a contract mailed or faxed
to them. The contract may also be printed from
here.
