Adaptive Recreation at the CPA
Adaptive Recreation gives everyone a chance to enjoy physical activity and recreational opportunities. ETSU Campus Recreation strives to ensure that the entire ETSU community has this opportunity. The Basler Center for Physical Activity (CPA) has fitness equipment and facilities that are accessible. ETSU Intramural Sports offers a Goalball tournament as well.
Goalball: A Paralympic team sport designed specifically for individuals who are blind or visually impaired, Goalball can be played by anyone with the use of eyeshades. Here's how the game is played: Goalball
Cybex Total Access: Cybex Total Access is a line of commercial fitness equipment designed to be accessible to the physically impaired but which does not exclude other exercisers. This allows fitness enthusiasts who have physical or sensory limitations to take advantage of fitness training on the same gym floor and using the same equipment as those who do not. Cybex Recumbent Bikes: These bikes have a step through feature that make it easier to get onto the bike.
Sci-Fit bike: The industry's most versatile rehabilitation tool, the Sci-Fit PRO2 is an upper body exerciser and lower body recumbent bike in one for a total body solution. Dependent upper and lower cranks enable passive assistance. For more info, click here:
Change room: The change room is accessible and available for all patrons to use, but is mainly for parents with young children and anyone who might need more space and privacy. There is a shower, sink, toilet, and bench in the Change Room.
Hydraulic chair lift: The hydraulic chair lift is an accessible way to access the pool. Lifeguards are on-duty at all times that the pool is open and can give directions on how to operate the chair. CPA Pool hours.
