National Eating Disorder Awareness Week

NEDA Week:

Feb 24th - March 2nd 2014

The Basler Center for Physical Activity will be hosting several events this year for National Eating Disorder Awareness Week, which runs from February 24th to March 2nd
The mission of this program is to create awareness and understanding of eating disorders and negative body image and to decrease body dissatisfaction and to help those affected, by providing resources. All ETSU students, faculty, staff, and community members are encouraged to attend and participate in any of the week's events.  Campus organizations involved include: OASIS (Outreach and Advocacy Sexuality Information for Students) and the Counseling Center, University School, Buctainment, the Nutrition and Dietetics Department, and ETSU Group Fitness.

MONDAY: 2/24
"What Do You Love About Yourself?" 4-7PM
Stop by the CPA lobby to write down what you love about yourself and have your picture taken. Location: CPA lobby.

TUESDAY: 2/25

"Reflection in the Mirror" 6:30-7:15PM
A montage of poetry, song, personal narratives, and facts concerning women's body image. Performance by ETSU Storytelling students. Location: Culp Cave

"Generation M" 8-9:30PM
Buctainment's, 'Take Back Tuesday' night, will be hosting NEDA Week for a special documentary discussing misogyny in media & our culture. Kate Emmerich from OASIS and the ETSU Counseling Center will be present to discuss questions and related topics. Location: Culp Cave

WEDNESDAY: 2/26
Nutrition Day! 4-7PM
Come stop by the CPA lobby and speak with ETSU Nutrition dept. interns regarding making healthy choices. Kate from Earth Fare will be present as well with some freebies!

THURSDAY: 2/27
Guest Speaker, 6-7PM
Logan Gillen, ETSU alumni, and founder of SHINE (Saving Hearts in Need of Embrace) will be presenting her personal experience with eating disorders, while educating us and answering any questions we have. Location: CPA Multi-purpose room.

FRIDAY: 2/28
"Love Your Body Yoga" 4-5PM
Come for a relaxing, gentle, and uplifting yoga session with Sarah Gunnin. All levels of yoga experience are welcome! We provide the mats. Location:CPA Yoga Studio.
