Spring Break 2011
Something new this year! A National Park that provides mountain peaks, desert Valleys and Canyon Rivers. Hint: West Texas
Chisos Mountains, Chihuahuan Desert and Rio Grand River are all within Big Bend National Park. We will hike in the mountains and deserts and paddle on the river. We will travel as a small group in order to minimize impact on the areas we visit. Participants will learn about back country travel and navigation outdoor cooking, desert, river and mountain ecology; and expeditionary living skills.
We will fly to El Paso TX, rent a van and drive to the park. For the first day we will visit Park headquarters, do some site-seeing and et our back country permits. From there we're off to the wilderness to experience all that this incredible park has to offer.
On Saturday we will return to the airport and fly home, returning late Saturday night giving you all day Sunday to rest-up, pick the cactus thorns from your toes and slip back into the rhythm of campus.
Cost for the trip is $765 and includes airfare, ground transportation, camping equipment and most meals. Deposit of $200.00 before Jan 31 will hold your spot. Balance will be due Feb. 28.
