Dr. Magee manages the activities of the University Career Services Office. He finds the greatest satisfaction in helping students make positive choices about jobs and careers that fit their unique abilities, interests and values while developing skills for success in today’s job market. He has a PhD in Higher Education from the State University of New York at Albany and an MS in Counseling from SUNY at Oneonta. His experience includes teaching and coaching adults in career transition as a consultant for Right Management and Drake, Beam, Morin in Raleigh, NC. He served as director of career services at Elon University for six years before coming to ETSU in the spring of 2007.
His hobbies include camping, kayaking, reading and photography. He enjoys riding his motorcycle on local mountain roads and driving with his wife to central North Carolina for family visits.

Wayne E. Speer, Assistant Director, manages the Internship and Cooperative Education Program, working with students and faculty to arrange internship placement. He is often in contact with employers and community leaders to develop local, regional, and national internship / co-op opportunities.
When he escapes from his office, he enjoys cooking, gardening, smooth jazz, and vintage movies. He also endures injuring himself for the joy of riding his mountain bike or working out at the CPA.

Calvin B. Purvis, Assistant Director, assists in administration of career services and cooperative education programs; develops and coordinates seminars on career related subjects; works with students and alumni concerning individual career plans and needs; communicates job market trends, salaries and geographic opportunities; assists with freshman orientation and in communicating office technology systems. Additional areas of service include resume / CV reviews, interview practice and strategy sessions, web conferencing, web site and office systems development, and traveling regionally to meet with employers.
During breaks, he likes to getaway to enjoy live music and regional events. He believes in maintaining a healthy balance of family and work life.

Ruth Wilbanks, Information Research Technician II, assists as a liaison between employers, academic departments, faculty, staff and students. She also serves as an assistant to the Director of University Career Services. She manages BucLink and Banner (systems). She also organizes several Career Fairs that are sponsored by University Career Services. She shares the responsibility of web site and office systems development. She assists with reporting and documentation requirements of the office. She maintains the office budget. She provides oversight in hiring and supervising student workers to assist the professional and support staff of the office.

Susan Creek, Executive Aide, works closely with the assistant director of the Internship and Cooperative Education Program. Her duties include general office management, student worker hiring and supervision, coordination of the office calendar, website updating, student and employer outreach, along with administrative support functions.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, rehearsing and performing with The Civic Chorale, traveling with her husband on their Harley and finding new adventures. She participates in activities ranging from skydiving to ballroom dancing.

Claire Bass is a Graduate Assistant for University Career Services. She helps students with resumes, along with supporting the rest of the staff of University Career Services. She graduated from The University of Alabama in May 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Claire is currently working on her Master's in School Counseling program; her goal is to become an Elementary School Counselor.
Some of Claire's hobbies include making blank journals, reading, watching funny YouTube videos, and playing with Lolita and Dandelion (her cats). Her favorite author is Sherwood Anderson and she loves 70's punk rock.
