JOB DESCRIPTION: The FJDCC is an agency which provides assistance to Judges in the First Judicial District by evaluating high conflict families with children who are embroiled in custody and/or visitation disputes. The successful candidate will be capable of independent work responsibilities, collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, effective communication skills, as well as dependable and capable of crisis intervention when necessary. The intern will work under the direct supervision of Janie A. Short, LCSW, and will be primarily responsible for providing monitoring of court-ordered supervised visitations between parents with impairment (e.g., substance abuse, anger management, poor boundaries, etc.) and their minor children. In addition, the intern will participate in forensic evaluations of high conflict families who are referred to the FJDCC. This is an excellent opportunity for a student interested in direct exposure to family and human dynamics.
The work environment for this position varies as needed and will be explained at the initial interview.
SALARY: Unpaid /Volunteer

Small Miracles is a nonprofit corporation founded in 1995 through love to enhance the physical, emotional and cognitive growth of individuals with special needs through equine assisted activities and therapies (EAAT). Small Miracles is an affiliate member of PATH Intl.; all of our instructors are certified through PATH Intl. and are first aid/CPR trained. Our facility is located on 11 fenced acres; including indoor, outdoor riding arenas, equine barn, prayer chapel and numerous shelter/storage sheds. We provide approximately 75 equine assisted activities each week.
Desired Qualities of Internship Applicant: Candidate shall complete Volunteer Training and Orientation. The individual must be empathetic with a complete understanding of our mission to serve the special needs community. One must posses' sound judgment, maturity, humility, good decision-making skills and a servant's heart. CPR, first aide training is desirable. Must be willing to do whatever needs to be done; excellent team worker.
HOURS: 10-19 (1 Credit Hour)

JOB DESCRIPTION: Mountain Youth Academy is a residential treatment center for young adolescents (male and female) ages 7 through 17. The successful candidate will be a clinical, programmatic, and/or education intern who will contribute to the effective implementation of individual treatment plan of students through line of sight supervision, provision of clinical services (including group and recreational opportunities), positive interaction and role modeling, direct and clinical care, and appropriate scoring of behaviors of students. Intern will provide appropriate crisis intervention as necessary by anticipating and responding quickly to escalating behaviors, utilizing de-escalation techniques to diffuse the situation, correctly prioritizing safety concerns, and following proper restraint technique guidelines as needed.
The work environment for this position is a residential facility setting. While performing the duties of this internship, the intern will be exposed to students who may ask inappropriate personal questions, display socially unacceptable personal behaviors, use profanity and make insulting remarks or threats.
*NOTE: Successful candidates must have a background check, drug screen and acceptance by the State of Tennessee DCS criteria. A seven-day training will be required.
