 SOPHOMORE - SENIOR LEVELS

 POSITION:  SEASONAL INTERPRETIVE RANGER

 JOB DESCRIPTION

CRITERIA:

  • Course work in outdoor leadership and/or wilderness skills is supportive and desirable, but not mandatory; 
  • A sound knowledge of or willingness to learn about the natural and cultural history of the park;
  • Personality and communicative skills conductive to work in public service while guiding and directing interpretive programs, assisting park visitors and supporting park rangers and staff in a myriad of administrative, maintenance and operational duties;
  • Writing skills as applied to organizing information, completing reports, generating interpretive program transcripts and responding to requests for park information.

 

DUTIES:   The student will be responsible for providing interpretive programs such as guided tours, hikes, slide shows, demonstrations, campfires and other outdoor activities for park visitors; assisting the part rangers in the protection of the natural and cultural features, park boundary inspection/maintenance and other resource management activities as assigned; assisting the park rangers in assuring that park facilities, buildings, grounds and equipment are secure.  Assists rangers in the inspection and maintenance of buildings, grounds, and equipment; assists rangers with routine reports and records; assists rangers in scheduling, delegating and executing work assignments of various groups.

  LICENSE, CERTIFICATES OR REGISTRATION:   A valid vehicle operator license & CPR Certification are required. Desirable but not required certifications: Advanced First Aid, First Responder or Emergency Medical Technician. 

  PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OR OTHER FACTORS:   Good Physical condition: ability to do much hiking, climbing and carrying; ability to perform responsibly under emergency and crisis situations.

JOB DESCRIPTION: This position will be assigned to various areas in the manufacturing facility and will require the individual to be able to effectively interface and communicate with people at various levels of the organization (floor operator through senior management).  It will require an individual who is willing to spend a substantial amount of time within departments and on the manufacturing floor to understand various parts of the operation, collect data, analyze information and recommend solutions.  This person will also be responsible to summarize and communicate findings to various levels of the organization and implement recommended solutions. (detailed responsibilities available in the UCS office upon request)

HOURS: 40 hours per week
