MAJORS: ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTHJUNIOR - GRADUATE
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH AND SAFETY INTERN - JOB DESCRIPTION: Works in conjunction with EHS personnel to inspect machinery, equipment, and working conditions. Assists with training exercises and environmental procedures in order to ensure compliance with occupational safety and health and environmental regulations. Assist in data collection, organization, and preparation. Assist in maintaining records of internal and external environmental communications. Assists in certain vendor related activities such as inspections and testing schedules. Includes working with ISO Auditing procedures and regulatory assessments. Assists with emergency response activities. Collects data for the environmental and safety management system. Participates in Environmental and Safety Management Related Committees such as ISO Cross Functional Team, Employee Safety Committee, Emergency Planning Teams. Collects chemical and material safety data sheet information. Participates in industrial audits involving, machine safety, personal protective equipment, fire prevention, first aid, accident investigations, and exposure hazards.
REQUIREMENTS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and to effectively present and communicate technical information. Must have good writing and technical writing skills. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions, solve practical problems, and possess proficient computer skills.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and sit and is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme heat, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
CERTIFICATIONS: First Aid, CPR and AED are a plus.
Salary: $13.00 per hour
Hours: To be determined at interview -Will work with student schedule and needs.
