Student Affairs Staff Development Committee


Our role is to support the professional development of all staff employed in the Student Affairs Division at East Tennessee State University. Our goal is to promote anything that is done to enhance the knowledge and skills of staff, including organizational development which assists the achievement of the University’s vision of “Becoming the University of Choice”.


The Committee’s objective is to provide a framework for allowing appropriate development opportunities that are designed to improve the knowledge and skills of staff which will enhance professional and personal growth and effectiveness.


Our Committee supports not only the more traditional forms of development such as workshops, seminars, and workshops, but also allows more progressive forms of development such as mentoring, work shadowing, individual advice sessions and self-directed learning, all reinforcements of continuous professional development.

Our services include:

  •       Acting liaison between staff and the Senior Associate Vice President/Dean of Students
  •       Annual Staff Recognition Awards
  •       Annual Spring Social
  •       Annual Holiday Social
  •       Fall and Spring Semester Division-wide Breakfasts
  •       Community Service Projects
  •       Tailored training and informational workshops to meet specific needs of staff
  •       Facilitation of special projects
