Staff Recognition Award Selection Process
The SDC Chair will send an invitation to submit nominations to the entire
Student Affairs Division with a detailed description of the awards offered
clearly stating the deadline for the receipt of nominations.
The SDC Chair will accept all award nominations and the Committee will
review all nominations received and make the award selections.
The award selection process will consist of committee members utilizing
a ranking sheet ranging from 1 to 5, with 5 being the highest. All award
nominees must receive a rank from each member of the reviewing committee.
This will prohibit any zeros being averaged into the final ranking tally.
When a committee member is nominated in a category two (2) options exist:
The nominated committee
member can remain in the consideration for the award but can neither review
the nominations for this award nor vote for this award category.
The nominated committee member can remove himself or herself from consideration
for the award and be allowed to review the nominations and cast a vote
for this award category.
In the event of a tie in the category where a committee member is to be considered, that committee member will be asked to leave the room to allow the committee members to freely discuss the tied nominees and make their final selection.
In the event only one individual is nominated in a particular category,
the normal ranking process will be conducted by the committee members
and an average of the points must equal at least four (4) in order for
the individual to win the award. It is the goal of the SDC to honor at
least one individual in each category; however, we reserve the right not
to present an award for a category in the absences of a viable nomination.
Awards will be presented annually at the Student Affairs Spring Social
in May.
The SDC Chair will submit award winner names to the Office of University
Relations for possible announcement in The Accent Faculty and Staff newsletter.
A member of the SDC will send notification to those individuals nominated
for an award but not selected as the award winners.
