Orientation for summer entering students will be held on Friday, May 9, 2008. Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. in the D.P. Culp University Center Auditorium Lobby.

Schedule of Events

May 9th, 2008 Program

8:30-9:00 p.m.:  Check-in for First-Time Freshmen, Transfers and First Time Adults Students

9:00-10:00 p.m.: Welcome and Opening Session First-Time Freshmen, Transfers and First Time Adults Students

10:00-2:00 p.m.:  Advisement and Registration

• ETSU also requires documentation of immunity to measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) for all entering students (12 hours or more) as follows: students born during or after 1957 must provide documentation of 1) having received two (2) vaccinations with live MMR vaccine since 12 months of age; or 2) positive titer to these illnesses; or 3) documentation of actually having had the disease by a physician's statement with his or her signature or stamp. (Exemption: Students who attended a Tennessee elementary of secondary public school after July 1, 2001 are presumed to have both MMR doses and proof of immunization is not required.) • If you receive notification from the Office of Admissions or the University Advisement Center that you need assessment, follow those instructions. Students must make arrangements to complete this requirement prior to attending orientation. Without necessary testing you cannot register for classes. If you have questions about assessment, please call the University Advisement Center at (423) 439-5244. If you wish to sign up for a test date, please contact the University Testing Center at (423) 439-7842.
  ACT or SAT scores less than three years old will be used to determine placement in Developmental Studies Program (DSP) courses. Students who are 21 or older, who do not have ACT or SAT scores less than three years old, are required to take the COMPASS test.
  Following a review of transfer credit, the COMPASS test may be required. Students with high school deficiencies are required to take the COMPASS test in appropriate areas.



• All students will have the opportunity to have their University ID card made during check-in or after they complete the advisement registration process.



• The offices of Financial Aid, Admissions, and Housing will be open throughout the orientation program.



• Important-Immunization Waiver Requirement: ETSU requires all entering students to complete a Hepatitis B/Meningococcal History Waiver form prior to registering for classes.

  If you are younger than 18 years of age on your scheduled orientation date, your parent/guardian will need to complete the waiver and return it to Student Health Services before oriention. Your form should be received three working days BEFORE your orientaion in order for you to register for classes at orientation. To access this form, go to the web at www.etsu.edu/studenthealth/ , fill out the waiver and return it to Student Health Services by fax or at the address listed below.

  If you are 18 years old or older on or before your orientaion date, you will have the opportunity to complete the waiver at your orientation.

  Failure to complete this form will prevent students from registering for classes at orientation.




• The dress for orientation is casual. You may want to bring a light jacket or sweater since the temperature varies within the building.
