Some mental health issues are best treated in conjunction with psychiatric care. The Counseling Center provides limited psychiatric services to supplement our personal counseling services.  These services are provided by physicians in their third year of psychiatric residency at the ETSU School of Medicine.  Residents are supervised by the Department of Psychiatry faculty.  The residents are available to provide the following services:

            Psychiatric evaluation and assessment

            Medication management

            Consultation

            Short-term psychotherapy

Students interested in psychiatric services must first meet with one of our staff counselors.  If the counselor determines that psychiatric evaluation is warranted, he/she will arrange a referral to one of our residents.

The services are available to currently enrolled students receiving counseling services at the Counseling Center.  There is a nominal fee associated with these services.   As with counseling, psychiatric services are confidential within the limits of legal and ethical regulations.

For more information call the Counseling Center  439-4841.
