The responses do not represent the opinions of a single individual, but are the product of the collective "wisdom" of our mental health staff (three psychologists, one counselor, plus psychiatric residents and graduate assistant trainees). You can submit questions pertaining to topics such as stress/anxiety, depression, eating disorders, making behavioral change, adjusting to college, alcohol and drug concerns, sexual assault and other traumas, relationships, sexual orientation, coping with loss, self-esteem, anger management and how to help a friend. We may not always have "the answer" to solve the problem, but we can steer you in the right direction. We will attempt to provide the most accurate information based on current research and standards of practice. We will also provide referral information to assist you in getting additional assistance. The Doc Is In cannot replace face-to-face counseling with a trained mental health professional. The Doc Is In cannot respond to you directly and will not carry on a dialogue regarding your concerns. If you would like additional assistance, please call 439-4841 or come by our office in the D.P. Culp Center, room 340. This service is not for emergency use or crises. If you should be experiencing an emergency after our normal office hours (8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday) call 911 or Public Safety 439-4480 or go directly to your local hospital emergency room. Process We invite you to submit your mental health question by clicking on the "submit question" button. Out staff will provide a response and post the question and response to this web page. Normally, we will post the response within 5 working days. We will not send a direct email to you nor will we attempt to contact you. We will remove any identifying information before we post your question. Please note: questions are sometimes responded to in the “Doc Is In” column in the East Tennessean student newspaper. If you do not want your question to be published in the East Tennessean, please say so when you submit your question.
