Opportunities for Graduate Students ...

The Counseling Center at ETSU offers a training program for students in mental health graduate programs.  It is designed to provide broad-based training for practicum or internship students who are seeking experience with direct delivery of mental health services.  The practicum/internship program can be tailored to the specific needs of each student.

Our clients at the Counseling Center are undergraduate and graduate students at ETSU.  Their ages range from 18 to 60.  Typical presenting issues include: anxiety and mood disorders, relationship/interpersonal problems, family concerns, phase of life/developmental problems, adjustment concerns, substance abuse problems, stress management concerns, and problems related to sexual assault.

The Counseling Center provides a full range of mental health services including individual, couples, and group counseling; career testing and counseling; personality assessment; crisis intervention – which includes 24 hour on-call coverage; psychological consultation; and outreach programming to students and the university community. Trainees will be afforded opportunities for experience in all of these areas.

For more information about graduate training opportunities contact Dr. Davis Smith at 439-4841.
